A BUILDER WANTS A PAINTING AND LOGO TO BE USED FOR HIS NEW BOUTIQUE HOTEL CALLED “THE SURF SHACK HOTEL”.
“Ok, I will be glad to do that,… you say he needs the original to be 3′ x 4′?” The personal assistant said “YES”,…and the original should be that size and then this same design will be on the Main sign, clothes, logo, business cards, brochures, and hotel stationary. She proceeded to send photos of the Hotel’s location, which was an inlet with a feeling of being on a deserted island. This new hotel is located in South America.
Designing with all of these aspects in mind, takes a lot of plotting and scheming. One has to think about how the design will translate into the different venues with the same look, impact and feel. Sometimes, a painting with a lot of detail, can get totally lost when it is shrunk to the size of a business card.
I went about painting the loose, and whimsical scene of their little cove and kept “Sponge Bob” in mind while paintings, so as not to get too serious, or detailed. This was to be a fun, happy, light and breezy place.
I believe that it turned out really well. The client was happy with the painting, and made it The Surf Shack Hotel official logo.
